Have some people uncertain except family lore, of relation to Bishop Richard Allen, founder of AME church in Philadelphia (Mother Bethel) in 1816, Allen, a slave who bought his freedom. My maternal grandfather is Richard Allen, tho cousin, nephew.....who knows. Help?
William C Gaudin was born in the jersey islands in 1816, his mom was Elizabeth de Quetteville also born Jersey Islands. I'd love to know more about de Quetteville;s. Was in Normandy last year in Quetteville - nothing in the graveyard.
I am looking to go to Scotland and would love to find some of my Scottish folk - my great great great grandparents were born in Scotland, Andrew Finnis and Mary Finnis(nee Wield) and I'd love to go visit where they are from - thought I"d found a road to Dumfries, now can't figure out where I saw that....hahaha
My great grandfather George Kirk was born in 1869, folks said he was from scotland, but where?
Hallooooo all folks who wiki...

I was counselled to put in Scotland, rather than family name. I'm going this summer to Gaelic week, song, language on South Uist, and will visit Callanish stones on Lewis. On the hunt for my Finnis folk, Wield...Kirks...etc. Did see Kirk as a wee village near the north coast of Scotland ...

My paternal grandfather & grandmother, Jennie Caldwell and Ernest Hobbs were from Shawville, QC - Ernest's parents Robert Hobbs and a woman Stark, sorry can't remember came to Shawville from Ireland in 1820s. Was in cemetery. Will go again. Had the family farm out on what is now Zion Road, Willow Hollow. Anyone?
