Biography

This profile is part of the Hobbs Name Study.

Not much is known about Richard Hobbs, he is believed to have been born in Old Rappahannock County (later became Richmond County) in the Virginia Colony about 1644. Although others claim he was born in England and immigrated to the Virginia Colony, no documentation has yet been provided that proves this. According to Emmett Lucas Jr., Richard "may have been a son of Thomas Hobbs."[1]

Richard married Mary Meade/Mead (sometimes Meador), daughter of Thomas Mead,[2][3] before 22 Mar 1675, when they executed a deed selling land in Rappahannock county to John Sampson.[4]
