Biography

Esther Hobby, daughter of Remington Hobby and Margaret (Buffum) Hobby, was born on 25 Oct. 1804 in Massachusetts.[1]

She married Isaac Harlem Hawkes, son of Lemuel Hawkes, on 21 Sep. 1825 in Vassalborough, Kennebec County, Maine.[1]

Esther died on 4 Sep. 1832 at China, Kennebec, Maine.[1]

Esther Hobby descended twice from Governor Thomas Dudley (1576-1653) of Mass. His daughter Anne, first American poetess, married Governor Simon Bradstreet (1603-1697) of Mass. Ann’s sister, Mercy Dudley, married Rev. John Woodbridge. Anne’s son and Mercy’s daughter married,
