Biography
Eva (Hobson) Lilley was born in India to parents of British citizenship.
Eva Gertrude Hobson daughter of George Hobson and his wife, Matilda Chapman was born at Fategarh in India in 1873.
She was about 17 years old when she married Charles Lilley at Fategarh on the 22nd of June 1890. They were in Singapore when their son, Cyril, was born in 1894 and at Woolwich in Kent for the birth of their daughter, Ivy, in 1896.
In 1901 Eva was living at the barracks at Burnley in Lancashire, noted as head of family. Charles's whereabouts are not known. [1] Charles retired from the army after 22 years but it seems that things did not go well for in 1911 Eva was living in Lincoln with her three youngest children. Charles and Cyril were living in Grimsby, both employed as dock labourers. [2]
Eva died at Lincoln in 1959. [3]
