DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Charles by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Charles:
Hobson-494 and Hobson-72 appear to represent the same person because: The Hobson-494 profile represents a non-existend son of George Gibson Sr named Charles. Charles is Sr's grandson and so identified in his will. The Hobson-494 profile should be merged into Hobson-72 (the grandson) retaining only the data and parents now shown on Hobson-72. Thank you.
I have in my possession a book written by Lavina Hadley nee Allen. She is the daughter of William Allen and Jane Hobson -- and granddaughter of Charles Hobson. She started writing down a history of the family in 1839 - during the lifetime of her parents and while she was still living with them. She states that the children of Charles and Sarah are: Isaac, Hannah, Lydia, Susanna, Jesse, George, Jane, Mary, Sarah, Elizabeth, Charles, Phebe, Rebecca, Joshua. Lavina is therefore naming her aunts and uncles and likely got this list from her mother as well as personal knowledge. In other lists of children she definitely seems to be doing things in birth order but there is no proof that this list is in birth order. It mostly aligns with the known birthdates of most of the children but not exactly.
