Lucille was an antique collector, and many of her collections were displayed in her home. Lucille and Harry Gay were former owners of the Jayhawk Cafe, in Lawrence, Kansas. Lucille, a renowned gourmet cook, worked as a dietitian in the Kansas University Housing Department. Lucille has represented the University at a number of national conventions on dietitians. Harry Gay is a craftsman in wood.
1992, Blanche Hoch writes: " Lucille Hoch McMahon and her husband owned and operated the Jay Hawk Cafe which catered to students at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. She was also in charge of one of the dining rooms on campus and was known as a fine cook. She collected antiques and her husband excelled in furniture finishing. He made many beautiful pieces of choice wood. They had three children; Judy, Sue and Harry. recently Judy received a promotion in her business endeavor. Sue is a bank officer in Texas and Harry is employed by an oil company in Wichita, Kansas."
