Biography

William was born on the 1st May 1842 (please see the research note below), and his birth was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1842 in the Exeter district, Devon. His mother's maiden name was not shown.^[1]

In the 1861 census William (age 18), Carpenter, was the unmarried apprentice of John Vincent on Cockhaven Street, Bishopsteignton, Newton Abbot, Devon, England.^[2]

In the 1871 census William (age 28) was a Porter at The Home Office was lodging on Kings Road, St Luke Chelsea, Chelsea, London & Middlesex, England.^[3]

William (full age) a messenger, married Rhoda Elizabeth Niblow (1845 - 1910) the daughter of William Niblow a box manufacturer, on the 22nd July 1871 in St George's Church, Hanover Square, London, Westminster, England. The witnesses were Sarah Niblow and William Niblow. ^[4]

In the 1891 census William (age 48), Office keeper Home Office, was the married head of household in Artillery Buildings, 14 Old Rochester Row, Westminster, St George Hanover Square, London & Middlesex, England.^[6]

In the 1901 census William (age 58), Civil servant, was the married head of household at 268 Vauxhall Building Road, St George Hanover Square, London & Middlesex, England.^[7]

William's death (age 64) was registered in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter of 1906 in the St Marylebone district, Middlesex.^[8]

William died on the 24th December 1906 in Middlesex, England and his estate passed probate on the 17th January 1907 in London, England.^[9]
