"GREATLY BELOVED GOLDEN WOMAN DIES AT AGE OF 88 YEARS
Mrs. Elizabeth Churches, one of Golden's most highly esteemed old ladies, died at her home on Fourteenth street Sunday morning, after an illness of only a few hours. Heart trouble, superinduced by a sudden attack of pneumonia, was the cause.
Mrs. Churches had reached the age of 88 years, 10 days. Her death came peacefully and without suffering.
Mrs. Churches was one of the most progressive citizens tit Golden .
She took a great pride in her home and her city , and was always willing and anxious to have public Improvements made .
Her maiden name was Elizabeth Hockey.
She was born in Somersetshire, England, on the 15th day of January, 1837.
In early womanhood she married George Churches, a resident of the same part of England, and came with him to this country about 1860.
They took up their residence at Portage Entry, near the city of Houghton, in northern Michigan. Here they lived for almost twenty years, and there her husband died, being drowned in front of the dock which they owned and used on the little river jutting in from Lake Superior.
Later, Mrs. Churhes married again, her, second husband's. name also being Churches.
They came to Colorado, settling on a farm located a few miles north of Golden. After the death of her second husband, Mrs. Churches successfully operated the farm until about eighteen years ago, when she sold her farm and moved to Golden, and this city had been her home since.
Mrs. Churches was a splendid woman, and. she numbered her friends by the score, all of whom sincerely mourn with the members of her family In their great loss.
Mrs. Churches is survived by three daughters and three sons.

The remains were laid at rest, in Golden Cemetery."
