Born in Red Deer, Alberta to a pastor and his wife, both from Newfoundland. Returned to Newfoundland at age 3 and grew up there until moving aged 9 to Medicine Hat, and then back to St. John's at age 12. Went to boarding school in Ontario for grade 11 and 12. Moved to Alberta for University (scholarship), and remains there til present day after marrying.
