George was born in Hadley, Massachusetts, the son of William Hodge and Amanda Hopkins, in 1786.[1][2]
George Hodge was the eldest of 12 children. His and his wife Elizabeth Tryon Hodge's heir, George Hodge Guilford, was the son of George Hodge's sister Mary Hodge (b 25 Apr 1795) who in 1813 married Joshua Guilford of Guilford, VT.

I appoint my wife Elizabeth T. Hodge & George Hodge Guilford the legatees as my executors.[5]
