ID'ed by Family Search as the son of Abel Hodge (1757–1850) and Keturah Jones (1760–1844), but this is evidently incorrect since Samuel was born in South Carolina not New York or Connecticut.

- 2nd 1845 Mary Ann Deeter (1804–aft 1880), no children
