Marriage 1820 Thornton by Pocklington

At the end of 1820 when Henry was over 21 he married Elizabeth Hodge in Thornton by Pocklington ^[1]

Seaton Ross 1841

At the first census in 1841 we find Henry Horsley in Seaton Ross at Rytham Gate, Ag.Lab. with a large family including his wife Elizabeth seven children and his mother-in-law Elizabeth Hodge age 73 independent. All are recorded as Y = Yes, born in Yorkshire. ^[2]

Carrier in Seaton Ross 1851

In 1851 Henry Horsley was in Rytham Gate by Seaton Ross,and had become a carrier, taking goods from Seaton Ross to adjacent places, probably Pocklington, but perhaps as far as York. Half of the eight children of Henry and Elizabeth had left home, but two grandchildren had arrived, and Elizabeth's mother Elizabeth Hodge remained with them, now 84. The whole family are labelled as born in Seaton Ross with the sole exception of grandmother Hodge, born simply in Yorkshire. ^[3]

Seaton Ross 1871

In 1871 Henry Horsley is 74 and is again in Seaton Ross and at Rytham Gate but this time at White House with a small farm of 40 acres and one labourer,. The transcript wrongly identifies Seaton Ross as Seaton by Hornsea, but it seems to be Henry himself who suddenly decides that he was born in Pocklington and his wife in Fangfoss. ^[4]

Death 1876 Seaton Ross?

Henry's death is registered in the Pocklington Registration District early in 1876. He was about 78. It seems this was in Pocklington 9 Feb 1876: Burial Registers in Pocklington and Seaton Ross should be checked. ^[5]
