1881 England and Wales Census--Her mother Emily J. Hodge, a 23 year-old widow and domestic housekeeper lived in the household of John Thomas. She had been born in Sittingbourne, Kent. John was a brickfield labourer, aged 52, born in Halstow, Kent. Two children were also listed in the home as grand daughters of John Thomas. They were Rosina J Hodge-Grand Daughter-6 and Frances E Hodge- Grand Daughter- 5, both born in Sittingbourne, Kent, England. [1]

Immigration Record Passenger List: Frances Hodge, an 18 year-old servant, born in England. She traveled with one piece of baggage in the Aft Section on the S. S. Berlin, which had sailed from Southampton, England 06 MAY 1893 and arrived at Ellis Island 15 MAY 1893. [2]
