Beatrice Victoria Hodges was born[1] 9th June 1898 at Mitchell St, Bourke, NSW and is the illegitimate daughter of Louisa, formerly Bray, now Hodges. Louisa's mother Mrs Hannah Pockerandt was present at her birth. Even though no father is listed, family lore says that Cornelius Campbell Leahy is her father, she was registered as a Hodges as her mother, Louisa was not legally married to him until 1919. A paternal triangulated DNA match now confirms this lore to be truth; ie Beatrice is a LEAHY! See sources below.Lucas-407 10:42, 15 October 2016 (EDT)
Dot as she was later known appears to have never legally married, she lived with her long time partner John "Jack" Ryan until his death in 1958.
She died[2] as Beatrice Victoria Ryan on 21st August 1972 at Fairfield District Hospital, NSW at the age of 73, her father is listed as Cornelius Campbell Leah, steamer driver. She was buried[3] 24th August 1972, with Jack at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Botany, NSW (now Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park); Section: 29C, Row 12, Grave 646.
