Biography

Lewis was born about 1776. His birth date is suggested by his marriage date and his age 84 in 1860 census and 80 in the 1850 census. He married Elizabeth Doss on 8 Aug 1803 in Franklin County, Virginia.[1][2]

Lewis married as his second wife Caroline McNeil on 24 July 1836 in Franklin County, Virginia. [3]

He was living in Franklin County, Virginia in 1850.[4]

Lewis Hodges was age 84 (born abt 1776) listed as "pauper" and residing at the Poorhouse in the North Eastern Division, Franklin County, Virginia, PO Gills Creek in 1860. Also living there was Caroline Hodges age 46 (pauper) along with Jane McNeil age 26 (pauper) and two young children: Catherine McNeil, age 4 and Lewis McNeil, age 4 months.[5]

He died after 1860 in Franklin County, Virginia.
