Able Seaman 8283, H.M.A. Submarine AE1. Royal Australian Navy. Died 14th September 1914 aged 27 years. Born Lenham 16th April 1887. Enlisted Chatham. Son of George Hodgkin, of Sandway, Lenham. Brother of Lewis Hodgkin. Commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial. George was one of twenty Royal Navy personnel on a three year loan to the Royal Australian Navy. that were among the crew of 35 that drowned when the submarine was lost with all hands. (brother)
