Biography

Educated by a Chantry Priest at Woolavington Church.

Became "Receiver General" for Sir Hugh Luttrell of Dunster 1406-1419 King's Esceator for Somerset & Dorset 1418.

Said to be born of/at “Stawell, Somerset”. Later the Hodys were seated at Stowell. Stawell is near Cossington in Somerset (Brent family home). Woolavington (where John Hody (b1396) requested to be buried)is very close nearby. Stowell is near Sherborne in Dorset, not many miles from Pilsdon, where John (b 1396) took up residence with his wife Elizabeth Jewe.
