I was born at the Brooklyn Hospital on DeKalb ave. in the Fort Green section of Brooklyn that borders Downtown Brooklyn. It was my mothers choice of hospitals even though others were close by. Downtown Brooklyn was a great place to have grown up in the 1950s/60s, it had it's problems but it still was great. Downtown was my mothers and her mothers birth place, their memories were when the neighborhood was largely Irish. One thing about growing up downtown was you were just train stop from Manhattan, but we didn't have to go to Manhattan unless you had to, we had the Department Stores, five movie theaters, the Brooklyn Promenade in the Heights where we had a million dollar view of NYC, The harbor, Statue Of Liberty and sunset over New Jersey.
While living in Brooklyn during 1951-1985 I witnessed many things, the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963 and was told about it in my Junior High School. The NYC Transit strikes, Sanitation strike, Blackouts, Racial riots, Son of Sam, MLK & Robert Kennedy being killed, Cuban Missile Crisis, The Brooklyn Dodgers leaving Brooklyn for L.A., a new team forming the N.Y. Mets, 1961 N.Y. Yankees with Mantle, Maris, Berra, Ford. Transistor radios, N.Y Jets with Joe Namath, the Moon landing, 15cent pizza, 15cent transit fare.
Growing up I was influence by music as all were but living in NYC it was the center of everything, I heard country & bluegrass from an older sibling and Doo Wop Rock n Roll from another. Big fan of 60s British invasion rock, Motown, Southern rock, Blues, and then mostly Reggae.

I don't know if you have already been invited to participate in the Driggers Name Study so I wanted to make sure you were aware of it.
Would you have any objection to me adding the code for the Study so that the profiles you are adding will show up with the rest of the Driggers (by birth and marriage) on the category page. Adding the code will add a name study box like the one shown on the category page to the biography area of each profile.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Debi
