Esther (Hoff) Christianson

Biography

STRUM - Esther Linda Christianson, 101, of Strum, WI, died Friday, March 2, 2012, at Crystal Lake Terrace in Strum.

Esther was born February 2, 1911, on her family farm near Osseo, WI, the daughter of Theodore and Ellen (Johnson) Hoff. She graduated from Lincoln Hill High School in Osseo and the Normal School of Teaching in Eau Claire, WI. She taught in one-room schools near Fairchild, Osseo and Strum for twenty years.

Esther married Louis Christianson on November 8, 1947, and moved to a farm north of Strum. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was an active member of the Ladies Aid.

Esther had a great love of gardens and her flowers. She enjoyed family gatherings and took pride in the educational and other achievements of her nieces and nephews.

Esther is survived by her one sister, Irma Pederson of Osseo; and several nieces and nephews.

Esther was preceded in death by husband, Louis, in 1974; her parents; her brother, Harold Hoffe; and a sister, Thelma Phillips.

Esther's family would like to thank the Crystal Lake Terrace for the care that she received while being a resident since July 2011.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 10, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Strum with the Rev. K.D. Taylor officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Strum.

Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
