Sarah Janette Hoffman was born 4 February 1793 in Lykens, Dauphin, Pennsylvania, United States, to Lt. Johan Nicholas Hoffman Sr. (1749–1814) and his wife, Anna Margaretha Harman (1753–1826), who were married 22 April 1772 in Dauphin, Pennsylvania.

Sarah married Jonathan Snyder (abt.1795-1877) 31 January 1814.^[1] Children of Sarah Janette Hoffman and Jonathan George Snyder are
