Physical Description: 5 foot 10 inches tall weighing 176 pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair. 16 FEB 1942. Funeral services were held Tuesday for Joseph Alfred Hoffman, 58-year-old resident of Scotland, who died Sunday morning in a Wichita Falls hospital. A resident of Scotland for 50 years, he was a stockman and farmer. He was born Oct. 14, 1904 at Red Rock, Tex. Rosary was said at 8 p.m. Monday from Owens & Brumley Funeral Home chapel. Officiating was Rev. W. H. Pardyka, pastor of St. Boniface Catholic Church of Scotland. Funeral mass was read at 10 a.m. Tuesday from St. Boniface Catholic Church. Rev. Pardyka also officiated at that service. Burial was in Scotland Cemetery. Hoffman attended the University of Texas. He taught school at Rhineland, Tex., and was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church where he was a member of the choir. He was a former chairman of the P.M.A. for a number of years. He served on the Archer County school board. For 30 years, he was active in the Knights of Columbus. He had been a past Grand Knight. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Cecilia Hoffman; two sons, Robert Hoffman of Forest City, Ark., and Jerome Hoffman of Scotland and two daughters, Mrs. Leonard Schenk of Scotland and Mrs. James Murer (sic) of Windthorst. Hoffman is also survived by one brother, F. J. Hoffman of Scotland and six sisters, Mrs. Ida Baumhardt and Mrs. Emma Meyers both of Wichita Falls; Mrs. Bill Morath of Scotland; Mrs. Frank Scheffe of Windthorst; Mrs. Charles Ingram of Denison and Mrs. Annie Berneathy of Burkburnett. Pallbearers was (sic) Allen Hoffman, Vincent Berord, Robert Baumer, Richard Hoffman, Alois Schroeder and August Baumhardt, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Morath, Edward Meyer, Vincent Teichman, Marcil Tairot, Clyde Peysen, Mike Costello and Clarence Wolf. Buried Scotland, Archer County, Texas, United States. [7]
