Henrietta was born about 1870 in Everton, Lancashire. She married James Stewart McQueen whose family were from Kirkcudbrightshire in Scotland (her father John Hogg was from Dumfriesshire. They had five children. She passed away about 1931.
Henrietta always said her family were from Kilkenny - but in fact (according to the 1871 Census) her birth mother Catherine was from Castlebar, Co. Mayo.
Her mother Catherine died of TB when Henrietta was only about 3 years of age, and her father John re-married to Elizabeth Whittaker.
Although Elizabeth was actually born in Madras, India, her father James Whittaker was born in Callan, Co. Kilkenny.
Perhaps Henrietta never remembered her birth mother and thought Elizabeth was her mother, and/or only remembers her stepmother's family stories that they were originally from Kilkenny.
Coincidentally, there is actually a place named "Kilkenny Cross" on the outskirts of Castlebar, so another possibility is that her birth mother Catherine's family were from that district of Castlebar.
