Jacob was born in 1849.[1][2][3] He passed away in 1904.[3]
Presently, it is uncertain at what time Jacob Alexander Hogg's immediate family, with the exception of Jacob, changed their last name from Hogg to Hogue. The 1900 U.S. Census shows all family members with last name of Hogg.[4][5] Jacob's medical records shows his last name as Hogg at the time of his death 12 July, 1904. [3] The family last name must have been changed prior to 15 Feb 1907 death of Lucinda, Jacob's wife, account her headstone has HOGUE engraved in it. [6] Also, the Birth Certificate of Norris H. Lewis, Sr (born 26 Feb 1911) records his mother's name as Mary Jane HOGUE, daughter of Jacob.[7]
