Hoke, aged 39 years, died at his home in Maple Street, last night, of pneumonia following the influenza. Mr. Hoke conducted a blacksmith business in Pearl street. He leaves a wife and one son. ********** The Lyons Republican, Lyons, N.Y., Friday October 18, 1918 Henry J. Hoke The death of Henry J. Hoke, 39, occurred at his home in Maple Street Sunday night following a short illness of pneumonia. Mr. Hoke was born in Otsego county, March 26, 1879. He had lived in Lyons for about five years. He was a proprietor of a blacksmith shop in Pearl street. Thursday, Oct. 24, 1918 Monday, relatives received the news of the death of Henry Hoke at Ilion. He was 40 years of age and was born and spent his early life here. He was a son of the late Theodore and Melissa Ayres Hoke, longtime residents of this village. He was a brother of Mrs. Paul Cook and George Hoke, residents of this village and has a large number of nieces and nephews here. Sidney Ayres is an Uncle of deceased. Henry Hoke was a brother of the late Dr. Fenimore C. Hoke. Hoke of Springfield and Miss Mabel Flint, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Flint of this village (Canajoharie) were quietly married Tuesday by the Rev. J. D. Peters, pastor of the Reformed Church. The bride and groom were attended by Miss Mary Flint, a sister of the bride, and Clay D. Heines." Mr. and Mrs. Hoke came on Wednesday last and are spending their Honeymoon at the home of the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Hoke. Many good wishes are extended to the young couple. Mr. Hoke had resided here until recently, and has many friends about town, and a large number of relatives. note: the quoted clip was taken from the Canajoharie section of the Friday Evening, January 22, 1904 edition of the Utica Herald Dispatch.
