Biography

He appears to have been born with the name Hok, which he westernized during his time in Hawaii to Hoke. He commonly went by Ting Sing and Chong Sing.

anecdote: { Ting Sing worked as a cook for the Greenwell Family at their coffee farm in Kona on the Big Island, from 1860 to 1890. He then relocated to Honolulu. The family name while in Oahu changed from Ting Sing to Hoke. He married Kahula Kaapana in 1863 and had 9 children. } ^[3]
