Biography

Father Robert de Holand d. bt 10 May 1367 - 16 Mar 1373

Mother Alice de Lisle

Maud Holand was born circa 1356 at of Nether Kellet, Lancashire, England.[1] In 1373, at age 17, she succeeded her grandfather, Robert de Holand, 2nd Lord Holand, as de jure, suo jure 3rd Baroness Holand.[2]

She married Sir John Lovel, 5th Lord Lovel, Constable of Corfe, Devizes, & Ludlow Castle, Justice of the Peace for Berkshire, Oxfordshire, & Wiltshire, son of Sir John Lovell, 3rd Lord Lovel and Isabel Harcourt, before 3 May 1373; They had 4 sons (Sir John, 6th Lord Lovel; Robert, Esq; Ralph, a cleric; & Thomas) & 3 daughters (Maud, Abbess of Romsey; (unnamed daughter, Minoress in London); & Philippe, wife of Sir John Dinham, & of Nicholas Broughton).[3]

Maud Holand died on 7 May 1423.[4]Her grandson William inherited the title of Baron Holand, and it merged with the title Baron Lovel. None of her descendants were summoned to parliament as Lord Holand before the peerage went extinct when Francis Lovel, Viscount Lovel and de jure 6th Baron Holand was attainted in 1485.[2]

John Dinham, born about 1358-9. He married (3rd) before 1406 Philippe Love, daughter of John Lovel, 5th Lord Lovel, Lord Holand, by Maud daughter of Robert de Holand, of Nether Kellet, Lancashire. They had one son, John, and two daughters, Maud (wife of Thomas Brooke) and Philippe (wife of Thomas Beaumont). Sir John Dinham died 25 Dec. 1428. His widow Philippe, married (2nd) before 24 March 1428/9 Nicholas Broughton. Nicholas Broughton, was living 3 Nov. 1459. His wife, Philippe, died 15 May 1465.
