Peter Holbrook was born in Braintree, then in Suffolk County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, on 17 Mar 1655, the son of Thomas and Joanna (Kingman) Holbrook.[1][2] "He apparently lived with his grandfather in Weymouth for eight years, as he was left the house, orchard and land there, in 1677 because of his care of his grandparents."[2]
Peter married, probably before 1679 (birth of first child), Alice Godfrey, the daughter of Richard and Jane (Turner) Godfrey of Taunton." He probably disposed of the Weymouth property that he'd inherited from his grandparents because, after marrying, he and Alice removed to Mendon, a part now (1955) in Bellingham, where his Uncle William had settled in 1663. He was a deacon in the Mendon church and was a man of influence in the community. They gave each of their children a farm at marriage.[2]
Peter lost his wife, Alice, in Mendon on 29 April 1705.[3][4][2] and was buried in the North Bellingham Cemetery.[4]
Deacon Peter Holbrook died on 03 May 1712, aged about 55, in Mendon, in what was then Suffolk County, Province of Massachusetts Bay,[3] and was buried in the North Bellingham Cemetery with his first wife Alice.[7]
Peter left 1200 acres to be divided after his death. His will was proved May 29, 1713.[2][8]
