Biography
Selinda Lorena Holcomb was a daughter of Obed Holcomb and Lavina J. Ferguson. Her birth location probably was in Madison County, Ohio, where she was counted among her birth family in the 1850 census, age 13.
Selinda married 22 Aug 1853 in Madison County, Ohio, James Milton Wood [1]. Eleven children are documented from this union.
The family was censused in 1860 in Tippecanoe Township, Henry County, Iowa [2]. By 1880, they had relocated to Oregon Township, Washington County, Iowa [3]. Selina's final residence was in or near Plattsmouth, Cass County, Nebraska. The frequent relocations of this family reflect the calling of James Milton Wood as a frontier Baptist clergyman.
Selinda Lorena (Holcomb) Wood passed away 15 Mar 1891. Her final resting place is associated with Oak Hill Cemetery, Plattsmouth, Nebraska, USA [4], however no grave marker is depicted, and it is not certain that she was buried there.
