Roan was born in 1856 in Georgia. He married Eliza Ready about 1879 and they had a family. They seemed to move around quite a bit. In 1880, he, his young wife, and their oldest child were living in Denton, Texas. He was a farmer.[1] In 1893, their son Frank was born in Wichita, Texas.[2] By 1910, they were in Oklahoma where Roan continued as a farmer.[3] By about 1920, they had settled in Northern California.[4][5] Roan passed away in Lindsay, California in 1930. He is buried with Emma.[6][7]
