Emmett was born in 1893. He is the son of Joseph Holden and Jannetia Wilson.
It is unclear when Emmett and his wife Pennie were married. They are enumerated together in the 1940 census. Emmett is indicated as married in the 1930 census; no wife is enumerated with him there. There is, however, in the 1930 census cited below, a child named E.J. Holder [sic], male age 3 born in Texas, who may be Emmett's son. [See 1940 census entry of Emmett J Holden, age 13, enumerated as nephew of Frank Holden. Link is on Frank's profile - Emmett (Jr.) is too young to have a profile at this time due to privacy rules.]
