Biography

1891 census, can not locate the family.

1881 census shows her as age 43 (born 1838) living at 97 Brearly St. West, Birmingham, with her husband and children. She is now employed as a greengrocer.

1871 census shows her as age 31 (born 1840) living at 97 Brearly St. West, Birmingham, with her husband John age 35 and their children.

1861 census shows her as age 22 (born 1839) living at 8 Court, New Summer St., St. George district, Birmingham with her husband, John Stagg, a jewler and daughter Eliza age 1 month. The March 1861 birth certificate for her daughter, Eliza, has the mother's mark for a signature indicating she could not write. Per this certificate they were living at 8 Court, New Summer St. location.

1858 marriage date and location is from the IGI and confirmed by review of a copy of marriage certificate. She was age 20 (born 1838), a spinster and living in Aston Manor. Her father, Thomas Holder, was a button turner. She signed with a mark therefore she could not write.

1851 census shows her as age 13 (born 1838) living with her widowed mother. She was a cloth button maker. The home was Back of Handley St., Birmingham.

1841 census shows her as age 3 (born 1838) with the family living at 2 Court, Little Charles St., St. Paul district, Birmingham. The family consisted of her parents Thomas and Mary plus siblings of Sarah age 15, Mary age 12, Eliza age 10, Samuel age 7, Ephraim age 5 and John age 1 month.

1838 birth certificate for her establishes her father as Thomas, a button turner, and her mother as Mary Ann Powell. The family was living at 2 Court , Little Charles St., St. Paul district, Birmingham, Warwick Co. Her 1838 christen is from the IGI and confirmed by review of the Parish Register (film 813723) which also shows her parent's names. On the same date, a John and Elizabeth Holder (John may be her uncle) christened their child, Eliza, born 13 April 1838, who were also living on Little Charles St.
