Obituary (UNK newspaper or date): Shrilda Jane Holder was born in Stylesville, Indiana on January 10, 1853 and died February 28, 1924 at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 18 days. She was united in marriage to William Flanders Burns on December 16, 1875, at Confidence, Iowa, and to this union eleven children were born, of whom six are living,they being Rosa Isabell Thompson of Angora, Nebraska, Bert K. Burns of Allerton, Iowa, Mrs. Ollie E. Sharp of Promise City, Iowa, Arthur D. Burns of Hollis, Oklahoma, Everett C. Burns of Texhoma, Oklahoma, and Golda M. Aleck of New York City. The deceased has been a resident of Promise City, Iowa for the past eight years during which time she has been a member of the Church of Christ for seven years and has been a faithful member. The funeral services were held from the Church of Christ on Sunday, March 2, 1924, at 10:00 A.M. after which interment was made in the Confidence Cemetery where many relatives and old friends gathered to pay their respects to the memory of one of the old residents of the community.
