Biography
Henry Holdham was born in England.
Henry Holdham, son of George Holdham and Ann Fitzjohn, was born between October and December of 1859 in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.
[1]
In Henry's early years, his father worked as a timber carter, and the family lived on the High Road in Hitchin.
[2]
By 1871, Henry's father had become a victualler and ran The Dog Public House on Cassio Hamlet in Watford (now the Hempstead Road).
[3]
Henry didn't follow his father into the business, and instead became a coach builder.
[4]
He married Isabella Susanna Jones in Aldenham in the latter part of 1882. The couple had fourteen children.
[5][6]
They remained living in the Dog Public House for the early part of their marriage
[7]
but eventually moved to 197 High Street in Watford, no doubt from where Henry also ran his coach building business.
[8][9]
By 1898 Henry and his family had moved to 1 Victoria Terrace on Marlborough Road in Wealdstone, Middlesex and he continued his work as a Coach Builder.
[10][11]
By 1911 they had moved just 1.6 miles up the road to 2 Milton Road, a larger house to accommodate the growing family.
[12]
Henry died 7 December 1933 in Hendon, Middlesex, aged 74.
[13]
At the time of his death he was living at 2 Marlborough Road, Wealdstone. He left £1,262 6s and 8d to Edwin Francis Jones, a retired butcher, and quite possible a relative of his late wife Isabella.
