On December 27, 1963 Karen was united in marriage to Allyn A. Elletson in Williston, ND. They remained in Williston raising their four sons.

Karen worked at Volney’s Café and Drive Inn, Borrud’s Bakery, as a Cass Clay sample server at local grocery stores, many years doing cleaning and maintenance in homes and apartment buildings, and ten plus years working in the kitchen at Bethel Lutheran Home. She was well known for her sewing ability; sewing clothes for children and adults, made dolls and doll clothes, real fur teddy bears and endlessly repairing jeans for “The Boys”. She also assisted in setup and displays in store windows advertising at the lst Rough Rider International Art Show. She designed and made a 30 inch Pinocchio doll made from balsa wood, designed and made all patterns and clothing and dressed two 30 inch dolls for display. She won lst place in the Annual American State Bank Doll Dressing Contest for 5 consecutive years.

She enjoyed cooking meals 3-4 times a day and was always reheating meals for Al. Much of her time was spent trying to control Al and the boys. There was an endless search for Serenity, better sticks to hit the kids with and attempting to make them socially acceptable. Karen was a kind, sweet, loving and patient wife, mother and grandmother.

Karen is survived by her 4 sons; Corey (Bessie) Elletson, Allyn Dean (Marnie) Elletson, Brady (Michelle) Elletson and Brandon (Jessica) Elletson; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Myron (Devona) Holland, Dean (Sharon) Holland, and Lloyd (June) Holland; sisters, Doris (Orlin) Kirby and Rubi Lindsey.
