Biography

Johanna was a daughter of Joseph Holland, clothworker of London, and his first wife. She is mentioned as Johanna Perry in his will of December 25, 1658, together with her husband John Perry and children John, Josias, and Elizabeth Perry.^[1]

Johanna, John, and children later emigrated to New England, settling in Watertown, Massachusetts, in 1666.^[2]

Research Notes

Some claim she was married in 1626, but the claim is unsourced. Worse still, she was only 9 years old at that time if her birth year was 1617 as others claim. Her birth year is also unsourced. Since her first known birth was in 1644/45, it is reasonable to assume she was married before 1645.
