Biography

Dr. Ira Howard Holland was born and raised in Chicago IL to Louis Holland & Janne Haase [1][2] [3]. He has one sister, Dorothy Frances Holland.

Ira received a doctorate's in Psychology from Columbia University in 1952 after [4]writing his doctoral dissertation tittled "A study of interracial relationships and practices in selected YMCA's " based upon his experiences while serving as Secretary for the YMCA in Seoul, Korea. [5] He was a professor of Sociology and Social work at Edward Waters College, where he was murdered by a student on Jan 4, 1980.
Ira married Beverly Orrell Myers on Feb. 26, 1944 in St. Joseph Co. Indiana.[6]
They had 3 children:

Harriet Joan Holland
Nancy Sue Holland

Although they traveled and moved a lot during their careers Ira and Beverly settled down in St. Augustine Beach FL where Beverly remained until she passed. Both were cremated and their ashes spread over the waters of St. Augustin Beach. Ira had one grandchild Zoiya Suzanne Holland when he died. He would not get to meet his second Lara Lynn Holland they were the only two.
