John Robert Holliday was the sheriff of Baltimore County from 1771 to 1776. Holliday Street in Baltimore City was named after him. [2]
In 1772, Col. Charles Ridgely left property at Northampton in Baltimore County MD to his grandson, John Robert Holliday. In the early 1780's, Holliday built the Epsom mansion. He was an avid breeder of racehorses and likely named the mansion after the famous race course in Surrey, England. [3]
