Sarah was born on 6th January 1818 and baptised at St Leonard's, Eynsham just under a month later on 1st February.[1] She was the daughter of William and Charlotte. William gave his occupation as labourer on the baptism.
Marriage
Moses Paynton and Sarah Holiday were married at St Peter and St Paul, Hanborough on 5th February 1838.[2] They were both previously unmarried, of full age and living in Freeland. Moses was a labourer and the son of George, also a labourer. Sarah was a gloveress and the daughter of William Holiday who was deceased. Neither could write so both made their mark with a cross on the register. The witnesses to the marriage were Wm Clerry and Esther Paynton.[3]
