Biography

Anne Hollings was born in Stonesby, Leicestershire, England in about 1835 and baptised there on 24th June 1835. She was the daughter of John Holling (a labourer) and Frances. ^[1][2]

Anne Hollings of Humberstone, Leicester, the daughter of John Hollings (farmer) was married to Henry Grocock (a joiner) of Warwick, the son of Henry Grocock (labourer), on 14th April 1861 at Leicester, St George. ^[3]

In 1871, Ann Grocock (35, widow) and her three children, Betsy Grocock (9), John H Grocock (6), William H Growcock (5) were living in Warwick. There were also two lodgers in the household. ^[4][5]

Anne Grocock was married to Samuel Crawford in Jul/Aug/Sep 1871 in Warwick, England. Other names that appear on that record are Eliza Ledbrook and William Reading. ^[6]

In 1881, Ann Crawford (widow, age 44, a laundress) was living at 15 Theatre Street, Warwick with children from both marriages - Betsy Growcock (19, tailoress), John H Growcock (16, fellmonger), William H Growcock (15, a pupil teacher) and Amy Crawford (9, scholar). All of the children were born in Warwick. ^[7]

Ann Crawford (54), Amy Crawford (19) and John H Grocutt (26) emigrated to New York in 1890 aboard the ship, Etruria. ^[8]
