"In 1837, he removed to Burtchville, Mich., where he worked for 4 years at the lumbering business. He married Matilda, daughter of Jonathan Burtch, July 8, 1841. The following winter he removed to Lexington, Mich., where he now resides. Matilda S. Burtch was born in Guilford, N.Y., March 1, 1823. Norton Hollister has never been an aspirant for public office, and has several times refused the proffered honor; has several times been elected justice-of the-peace, but has qualified for the office but once. In 1853, he was elected supervisor of the town of Worth, and again in 1873 and 1874. He is a farmer, and a member of the Masonic fraternity."
