Biography

"removed, in October, 1854, to Warsaw, Rice Co., Minn., where he has since resided; enlisted April 29, 1861, in Co. G, 1st Reg't Minn. Vol. Inf., and was at the first battle of Bull Run, where he. was wounded in both arms, in consequence of which he was discharged, Aug. 27, 1861. In February, 1862, he married Miss Rowena Coates, who was born Jan. 12, 1841. In the fall of 1869, he was elected a member of the lower house of the Minnesota Legislature, as a republican. In 1870, he was commissioned to take the census of Rice County, and in 1880 took the census of the town of Warsaw; in 1883, he held the office of post master, and was a notary public and treasurer of the town. He is a member of the Masonic fraternity, and a dealer in general merchandise."
