Arthur was born on the 20th of April 1882, in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, England. Son of William Holman and Harriet Jane Little. [1][2][3] Arthur was confirmed when he was 14 years old. [4]
Arthur enlisted in The 234th Royal Engineers, 5th reserve battalion, at Smethwick, Worcestershire on the 13th of September 1915, he was noted to be very skilled in riveting. Arthur was wounded in action on the 25th of September 1917, his injury was due to shrapnel wound in the left arm, which left Arthur with some disability.
He was discharged due to the injury on the 26th of April 1918, Arthur served 3 years and 103 days in the Army and earnt 2 yrs 255 days pension. He was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal for his service during WW1. [7]
After the war Arthur opened a Fish and Chip shop. [3]
Death
Arthur passed away in 1954, in Wednesbury, Staffordshire. Aged 72 years old. [8]
