William was born in 1944 and baptised in 1844-07-14. He was the son of William Holmes and Elizabeth Foster. He passed away in 1910. The clues to dates, places, and the picture, was given by his granddaughter Irene May (Holmes) West (Holmes-11814). These clues made finding the source data very much easier. He was born near to Newport in an area still call Parkhurst Barracks, by the locals. However before he was born the actual barracks' name had been changed to Albany Barracks. As none of the family has been found to have been a soldier, we must assume that it is an area near the Barracks that the local people call Parkhurst Barracks, and he was born in that area.
