Hello Thomas,

Please consider joining the Holmes Name Study and if you want to learn more about your deep ancestral Holmes genealogy then I recommend having a male Holmes in your family test their y-chromosome or y-dna. I used FamilyTreeDNA and am very happy with their service.

I think I have joined the Holmes Name study. If not Ill try again. I have submitted my Y-DNA to WikiTree. I believe we have chatted before relating to Moses.

Your terminal SNP and male Holmes ancestor have been added to the Holmes Lineage table at the Holmes One Name study. Thanks for providing the details.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

The England Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Have questions? Ask in the comments section of my profile.

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage, or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).

Hello Thomas!

You've been a member for a while so I thought I would check in to see how it's going. Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions? Most of us have questions after all that information!

I want to help! Click my name, send me a private message or ask in the comment section of my page. Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

Cindy ~ WikiTree Messenger

PS To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

My first Locke ancestor arrived in New Hapshire in the 1640s John Locke. I sent you the lineage of the Locke ancetors going back to the 900s. No Roma that I can see.

Thomas,

I am stuck on my Richard Lock born in England not sure on date but he died in 1776 in Virginia. He married a Mary unknown to me. From everything I have been told my Lock's descend from Scottish Romi Gypsy's.
