James was born in 1891 in Dalziel, Lanarkshire, Scotland. [1][2]
He immigrated to Canada 1907 at the young age of 16 with his sister, Margaret, age 24, landing in Quebec City in August 1907. [3] He is listed as a boot maker and she as a housekeeper with Niagara Falls, Ontario as their ultimate destination.
He married Bertha Caswell on Jan 18, 1916 in Niagara Falls, Ontario. [4][5]
They had three daughters: Margaret, Edna, and Flora.
He passed away in March of 1988[6] and is buried in Lundy's Lane Cemetery in Niagara Falls. [7]
