Biography

Rachel Holmes was born 24 Feb 1719/20 in Greenwich, Connecticut, daughter of Jonathan and Sarah Holmes.[1][2]

She married Nathan Smith about 1739 in Greenwich. She had six children with Nathan before he died in 1759 . Their youngest child was Amos.

Rachel then married Josiah Hollister on June 26, 1761 in Sharon, Connecticut where he farmed.They had two known children:[3].

  1. Smith Hollister, born 27 May 1762, Sharon, Litchfield, Connecticut Death: 11 Mar 1851 Exeter, Otsego, New York; Married Anna Torrey 28 Dec 1788 Ballston Center, Saratoga, New York
  2. Samuel Hollister born 24 Mar 1764 Sharon, Litchfield, Connecticut
