FLORA HOLMES GRIMM

Philora Holmes Grimm, daughter of Leonidas and Melissa J. Holmes, was born in Wayne County, Iowa, April 2, 1873 and departed this life at her home in Russell, Iowa, March 8, 1959, at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 6 days.

At an early age she moved with her parents to Kansas where she met and married Jinkey I. Grimm July 20, 1898. They moved to Alva, Oklahoma where they spent their married life. Her husband preceded her in death September 13, 1932.

Flora, as she was known to her many loved ones, was a member of the First Christian Church of Chariton, Iowa. She was a Past Noble Grand of Alva Rebekah Lodge and a Past Matron of Eastern Star of Alva, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Winona, October 20, 1885, her father, Leonidas Holmes, September 24, 1914 and her mother, Melissa J. Holmes, March 1, 1951.

She leaves to mourn her passing a number of cousins and friends without number.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 10, 1959 at the Woodman Funeral Home at 2 p.m., with interment in the Russell Cemetery. The Rev. Clarence Newby of Chariton officiated.
