Please consider joining the Holmes Name Study and if you want to learn more about your deep ancestral Holmes genealogy then I recommend having a male Holmes in your family test their y-chromosome or y-dna. I used FamilyTreeDNA and am very happy with their service.
I'm so excited to find you on wikitree. I see that your Holmes line goes back to Brooklyn. My Holmes line may trace back to Long Island before the American Revolution. I think I'm related to a Moses Holmes who was a Loyalist and went to New Brunswick after the war. I'm a member of the Holmes One Name Study. We could use your help with it if your interested. I've also tested my y-dna. If you have a male Holmes who would be willing to test, I'd love to know if we share a common male ancestor.
Take care, Ryan Holmes

You are now a confirmed member, and you can get started adding your family members.
As we've said, WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. So, we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use it. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree.
Tomorrow or soon after, a Mentor who will check in with you to see how you're doing and answer any questions you might have.
