Biography

Started life on Field Brook Road among the Redwoods, which made me a nature and animal lover. Moved into town when around 5 loved to learn but hated school. Mother was very proud to be the first college graduate in the family. She had a teachers degree from Humboldt State . My father was a strong, handsome man who served in the Navy mostly on the SS Saratoga during WWII. Later he worked at Simpson Timber and after we moved to Long Beach as an Electrician at the Naval Shipyard there. I loved Horses since I was about 3 years old and one of Dads friends let me sit on his horse while he talked with my Dad. Managed to take riding lessons off and on-my favorite were weekly lessons when we spent the summer in Santa Rosa before it got all built up. Beautiful rolling golden hills with scattered green oak trees and blue blue sky. Lived many years in Redondo, and Hermosa Beach towns. Loved walking on the beach, skating and bicycling along the beach. Moved up to the San Joaquin Valley near Sequoia and Kings Canyon parks . Finally realized my dream of owning an Arab horse in my 40's as well as my own home. Also discovered kayaking in my 60's both ocean and river were fun. Did a lot of Hiking in Sequoia, Yosemite and areas around. Have had dogs from Chihuahuas to Great Danes but my favorites are German Shepherds.

Thanks for adding the 1830 Census for Campbell, VA to Richard Gibson Brown (abt.1820-bef.1854). There are other census records that have Richard G(ibson) Brown, but none of them have ended-up being my ancestor. Do you know if this Campbell, VA Richard connects to mine? If not, perhaps you could qualify your addition that this is one of several census records for men named Richard G(ibson) Brown? And, the big question is, are you related?!

I looked a bit further, and the Richard G Brown in the 1830 Campbell County, VA census is not the same as my ancestor. Richard of VA remained there and was enumerated in the 1850 census. So I've removed the 1830 census. BUT, I do appreciate you trying to help!

Hello!

You left me a comment on my page, and I left you a reply, but I am not sure If you would see it, as I am unsure how the comments work. So I posted it on here as well.

Here is the comment that you left on my page; " Hi Breauna, we are related through Dna. Unfortunately we share several ancestors including Van Beiber, Evans, Renfro, Looney and Holstein so cannot use to determine the lines except in a general way. Those are all on my Paternal Holston side Best Regards, Sherry Holston-101"

Here is my reply; " Hello! Sorry it took so long to reply back to you. Your father is my 6th cousin. Through my Holstein Side. Which is on my father's mother side. Our common ancestor is Stephen Holstein. He is my 5th great-grandfather. At least that is the way I found we are connected.

Hope to hear back from you! :)"

Hi Sherry, do you have any records for Joel Harris' mother's maiden name? It has been documented as Avis Holleman Harris but a new Wikitreer named Gloria is finding an Avis White that married a Harris, but I'm not sure if Avis White and Avis Holleman are the same person. I see you are a descendant of Joel, so just checking. Thanks!

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. They are certainly the same person. White may be correct I see she has Avis sister married to a Holleman and they were neighbors. Will see what backup I can find. My vision is not as good as it used to be and those wills are really hard to read.

Hi Sherry,

Welcome to WikiTree! The email we just sent has helpful links to get you started.

WikiTree is different than other genealogy websites because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team!

If you’ve confirmed your e-mail address, you'll see a form on your Navigation Home Page that invites you to volunteer to become a full member and to help document our collective family history. Use the Tags and comments to tell us about your genealogical interests.

When you volunteer, one of our Greeters will confirm your membership. Then you'll be able to add your family to the tree!

We're really glad you're here!
