Arthur Edward Holt was born in 1877 in Kew, Victoria, Australia, son of Ellen (Giddens) Holt and William Holt.^{[citation needed]}

He married Elizabeth Anastasia Lang in 1897 in Kew Victoria.^[1] Their children were:^{[citation needed]}
